Windrush Rhythms: Stories of Belonging for Early Years
Share
Imagine tiny hands packing a little suitcase, not just with belongings, but with stories and dreams. We hope to inspire early years spaces across the UK; we are not focusing on history lessons, but on 'holding space' for precious memories, joyful movement, and uplifting music.
With Windrush Rhythms, we provide tools and gentle approaches for early years settings and schools, inspired by the powerful stories of the Windrush generation, to explore what 'home' truly means to each child. We guide them to touch vibrant fabrics, sway to calypso beats, and together, we wonder: "What special things would you take if you had to start a new adventure?"
Through 'soft storytelling' and these playful explorations, children discover more about who they are, the people who came before them, and the experiences that connect us all. We talk about what we'd miss, and the new hopes we'd find.
Every step, every song, every shared story leads back to one simple, profound message for every single child: You belong. No matter where you're from, or where you're going. That's the enduring legacy, making somewhere new always feel like home.
